I should have tried this much earlier, but I had always assumed WinUAE would take a performance hit in WINE on Linux. Much to my surprise, the MIDI support in WinUAE works under Linux! In fact, WinUAE actually performed faster than FS-UAE in many aspects (i.e. Just a few days ago I tried installing WinUAE on Linux using WINE. It's pretty good, but it doesn't support MIDI. MIDI is well supported in WinUAE.Ī few years ago I switched to Linux and therefore to FS-UAE, the native Amiga emulator for Linux operating systems. Then for many years after that I used the same Amiga software through WinUAE (emulation) and it worked great. The whole reason I need to do it this way is that the A4000 has a Cybervision 64/3D so I also need to have the drivers for that on this harddrive before transplanting it.įor many years I used MIDI sequencing software on real Amigas to create music. If I choose 060 in WinUAE I get a red error box so I was hoping to do this with the 040 settings and then move it to the physical machine and hope it works - is this likely? I am starting WinUAE from CMD with the -disablehardrivesafetycheckĪlso my A4000 is an 060. To add the HD I am using Add Harddrive, selecting IDE (auto) 0.

HDSetup when I try to Partition 0 it can't find the drive I have it to the point where I can boot with the Install disk but HDToolBox does not find the HD. I have downloaded three different ROMS (2 versions of 3.1 and one of 3.0) I've downloaded a set of Workbench 3.1 disks. I'm trying to turn the empty but Windows formatted drive into an Amiga drive. The computer has Windows XP and two IDE drives. I have installed WinUAE on a old computer I keep around to receive faxes from people who still insist on that. My goal is to create a Amiga IDE drive that will boot so that I can revive a A4000. I don't know why its not working, but I would like some help. Ejecting the boot floppy will give me an error that I mentioned before about not being a DOS disk. After installing, I rebooted and ejected the CD, but then I'm given a message stating I need to put in the CD, however doing that will boot the cd. After I saved my work, I ran the desktop and installed the OS. Then, I added the boot disk and Amiga OS 4.1 install CD ISO. After that, I created a 2GB hard disk file. I copied the Amiga 4000 PPC desktop from Amiga Forever and renamed it to Amiga OS 4.1. Ejecting the boot floppy gives me an error stating: "Not a DOS disk in device DH0". I don't want to reinstall the OS, or boot as a live CD. I've followed the instructions on the Amiga Forever website, however, when I finish installing, I eject the CD after reboot, and then I get a message stating I need to put in the CD. I'm having issue trying to get Amiga OS4.1 to install on Amiga Forever.
